A time capsule of memories

TITLE
SILVER JUBILEE TIME CAPSULE

CLIENT
HCA HOSPICE CARE

BRIEF
Design a 25th anniversary memento, an out-of-the-box way to present history and milestones over 25 years, instead of the usual commemorative booklet. Something that will intrigue the recipients, for them to keep and treasure. Something that will leave a symbolic legacy that not only commemorates the past, but inspires the future.

IDEA
A silver time capsule box containing 25 years worth of stories, recollections and personal memories. And as a functional keepsake bonus, delivered in the form of coasters

Each coaster bears a milestone, personal memory or story contributed by HCA staff, caregivers, volunteers, friends and patients throughout the organisation’s first 25 years. Each represented by a meaningful item “stored” within the time capsule.

It was plenty of hard work scouring for contribution of content and stories, but definitely well worth the effort. We’ve gotten wonderful feedback from touched recipients, who felt they’ve learnt much more about HCA than they ever did, from intimate and personal perspectives.

It was not just a time capsule in a box.

The concept was expanded by the client into the theme of their 25th gala dinner celebrations, where a real life time capsule treasure chest was handed over to the incoming President from the outgoing one as a symbolic mark of transition from the past to the future.

To cap it off, we left one last coaster in the box labelled “The Next 10 Years”, where recipients can pen their well wishes for HCA for the future, and drop it off to be sealed in a time capsule. This will be unsealed and unveiled in 2024 to inspire the next generation of staff, volunteers and caregivers.

Making our clients happy makes us happy:

“We were very pleased to have worked with Thinc on our anniversary memento.
They clearly showed engagement right from the start and took time to understand the spirit and the stories of HCA. It was because of this that they were alble to present a concept which we felt was compelling and creative for the anniversary celebration. We had fun putting it all together.
– Cecilia Pang, HCA Council Member
and Chairperson, Public Relations & Public Education Committee

“Andy took a personal interest in the work that we do and was able to capture the ethos of the many individuals, past and present, who continue to further the palliative and hospice care cause at HCA Hospice Care.”
– Howard Wong Jan San, Community Relations Manager, HCA
